In 1960, the traffic jams and other problems related to the day after Thanksgiving, made the Philadelphia police officers call it “The Black Friday”. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Nevertheless, the first reference to this Black Friday was found in the magazine Factory Management and Maintenance. It was published on Friday 23rd November 1951 issue; in an article about employees’ absenteeism. In any case, if we let the readers rest the whole weekend after the shopping rush, Monday is a lovely day to start a quick body shaping. The main reasons for that are three: the first one is that people want to look beautiful or handsome at Christmas. The second, that in the previous days, Black Friday included, everybody were “obliged” to eat a little bit more, and the third, that you will inevitably eat more at Christmas, and you want to do it with a peaceful mind and a clear conscience.

If you are a Mediterranean Diet follower, you know what to do during the next four weeks. Eat a little less. Trim down sweets, saturated fats, alcohol, any soda and bread. You can eat more vegetables (you may include a boiled potato), salads, fruit, grilled, and microwaved fish and grilled meat. You can finish you meals with nuts and/or chestnuts. Now, we are in season.

If you are not a Mediterranean Diet follower, and want to get more information, better go to TIPS TO LOSE WEIGHT WITH THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET. In any case, the most significant recommendations are:

1) Eat only natural food. They are fresh products, not manufactured, not wrapped, not transformed. Fresh vegetables, fruit, fish and meat, traditional bread, etc. are natural food.

2) Drink only water and eventually small quantities of wine or beer. Avoid sodas and bottled fruit juices.

3) Avoid as much as possible saturated fats and exclude all trans fats.

4) Keep an hour a day, or at least four or five hours a week, for exercise according to your physical condition.
