Gout Diet
Posted
Gout is a type of arthritis usually derived from a diet very rich in meat, alcohol and other proteins as seafood. Being all these product very expensive, particularly in the past, gout was also called the “sickness of kings”. The Spanish King and German Emperor Charles V died in Yuste (Extremadura, Spain) suffering from gout.
Gout normally presents periodic and very painful attacks. The joints swell and become red and hot. In half of the cases the part of the body affected is one or both toes. The reason is a high level of uric acid in blood that form crystal deposits in joints.
The recommended diet is having lots of vegetables, fruits, beans and legumes. Eat whole carbohydrates. Limit the protein intake (meat, eggs, poultry, seafood, and fish). Avoid alcohol y drink a lot of water in order to clean your body from uric acid. Limit fats and sugar. Have dairy products as skimmed milk and low fat yogurt.
Anyway, it is not a medical condition to be treated by yourself. Your doctor will prescribe you a treatment and tell you what to do.
